Go to solution Solved by Tsuki,

holy crap, im literally retarded.

just looked back at the tag, the 0 in 80, was actually the O in Ohms.

its '8OHMS', not '80 HMS'

problem solved, itll work fine

So, I know a ton about computers, and basically nothing about audio.

Ive got a pair of large passive tower speakers at home, that according to the tag on them, are rated at 80 Ohm impedance and a max of 180 Watts.

my plan was to use a raspberry pi with a JustBoom Amp Hat on it to power the speakers and act as a media player (using Volumio).

the Amp Hat ouputs 2x55W which should be enough to get the speakers plenty loud enough, but the amp is only rated for 4 or 8 Ohms.

Is it actually going to work, or will everything just explode?
