New HDD?

My hdd in my laptop its bounce between 2% and 75% on idle but when i only have a chrome tab open its usually 2% to 75% Im not too sure what it is, but it has had its fair share of it being bumped and moves a bit almost weekly

Get an SSD. You have a very, extremely, super low chance of regretting it.

How much storage do you need? You can get a 120GB SSD for $50. Or just get a new 7200rpm drive, it'll probs be around $30.

Have you looked at what causes the HDD activity?

 

Usually it's some Windows Telemetry spy stuff  that's doing weird things in the background, and you might be able to disable some of it.

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

 

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.
