I've tried plugging the ADSL into the wan port directly, it clicks in but the router doesn't receive any connection

Could you use the isp box and connect your own router for the network?

I have the crappy ISP router as a form of modem. into a decent router. Problem is I don't want to have the crappy isp router as a modem. I Just want a direct connection into my decent router

the tplink doesn't support ADSL input, you will still need to use an ADSL modem

your Fibre optic internet isn't delivered over fibre, but copper from the Telecom companies local node

Up here, Bell advertises DSL as FIBE, and telus advertises their DSL as OPTIK

if we know what model you are using, then we might be able to help If your connection is bonded, however, you may be forced to use the ISP provided modem

The max I can, 76/18

definitely not ADSL....thats VDSL

I'd recommend something like the smartrg 501

IT should do the trick and is just a modem, I'm not sure if BT is using PPPoE or just regular DHCP for their VDSL connections, so it might be plug and play, or you may have to call in to get login credentials
