P6T Xeon support

Go to solution Solved by oskarha,

I have used both the Xeon E5640 and the Xeon W3670 in my P6T Deluxe V2, so I see no reason that you should be able to do the same in your P6T.

So I'm purchasing an Asus P6T (not the Deluxe or WS) and I was wondering if a Xeon W3680 would work in it. The board supports the I7 980X which is the consumer grade version the only difference is ecc support. Will the Xeon work or do I have to get the 980X?

I can do the I7 but it's about $70 more so the Xeon would be preferable

people had luck with the p6t-deluxe and the xeon x56xx series

best bet is to make sure it has latest BIOS revision, and it should be plug and play
