Okay so basically I just got a new SSD (My old one was a 5 year crucial m4 that has seen better days).

I got a samsung 850 evo 500gb, its pretty cool, and its coming in 2 days.

I have some questions.

So I installed windows onto my flashdrive. Whenever my SSD comes, basically I unplug my old ssd, plug in the new one, then put in my flashdrive, and boot?

Do I have to do something with bios or something to setup windows?

If you're not planning on installing the OS all over again, you may want to migrate your old OS and data from the old drive to the new one. This is quite simple with Samsung 850 Evo SSD's, just look for a tutorial for it (I just woke up so won't do it for ya)

Asus X99-A w/ BIOS 3402 | Intel i7 5820k OC @4.4GHz 1.28V w/ Noctua NH-U14S | 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 OC @2666MHz 12-14-14-28 | Asus Geforce GTX970 STRIX OC | EVGA 750 G2 750W | Samsung 850 Evo 1 TB | Windows 10 64-bit | Be-Quiet Silent Base 800 w/ Silent Wings | 2x Dell U2414H OC @72Hz w/ Display Port

Don't forget to invest in an Intel Tuning Plan if you're going to overvolt your K/X CPU

Well I've had this current SSD for 5 years and I've never formatted it, so I didnt want to put all this old stuff onto a new ssd. I was just going to back the files up to my external harddrive, then move over what I need onto the new SSD.

Sounds reasonable if you've never formatted it during the 5 years... then I'd just reinstall everything from scratch myself
