Changing BIOS for unlocking chip

I have a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 motherboard and an AMD Athlon II X3 445 chip. I am wondering if there is a way I can update/change the BIOS to enable unlocking of the 4th core on the chip

the 445 used to be voltage locked basically, you can try adding a bit more voltage to it and see if that unlocks the core, many people have been sucsessful with that scenario. But, keep your eye on the temps.

It's been years since I'm had any X3s but that motherboard has the right southbridge so it might be capable of it but personally I found 4 out 5 X3s had a bad 4th core to begin with.  Look in the advanced BIOS settings for either ACC or UCC, if you have the right chip it might also be possible to unlock the L3 cache essentially making it a Phenom.
