RAM not functioning

I've acquired a Dell server which I'm cannibalizing for parts, and it has 64 gigs of DDR-3 RAM clocked at 1333 MhZ. I'd like to toss some of that RAM into my old HP desktop (specs here) but whenever I add any amount of it to the system, I get BIOS beeps and no POST. However, when I try to boot with ONLY the server RAM (none of the original desktop RAM) the computer appears to startup, but doesn't output anything to the monitor. However, there is no BIOS beep. Should I give this up as a lost cause? If not, how can I fix it? 

 

For reference, here is a link to the spec sheet for the RAM. (by some miracle, both varieties of RAM are on the same Samsung reference sheet.)

My specific model number is M393B5273DH0-YH9. (Those are the four gig variety. I also have a few 8 gig sticks, M393B1K70DH0-YH9)

The desktop RAM is M378B5273DH0-CH9.

Ram usually has Lifetime warranty so rma it

could it be that the server ram is ECC ram? that won't work in the HP PC.

That's a good thought, but it isn't ECC as far as I've been able to determine.

The RAM does function, in the server. It just doesn't work in the desktop.
