New Laptop

Hi guys. 

 

Last year to get my gaming machine I had to sold my laptop I got from Best Buy back when I was stupid with tech (RIP). At this point, I don't have a laptop. I need help finding a laptop that relatively cheap, I'd like to stay within $400, but I can go to $500 if I have to. I need it to be relatively thin. Doesn't need to be a gaming laptop, I just need something I can use for travel. Help?

 

I'm also looking at the Dell XPS series and LG Gram series, even those blow away my budget, they seem really good. Thoughts?

I read there are many problem with Dell XPS series motherboard, don't know if they fixed it yet or not.

 

How about a simple chromebook?

Not in a million years. I have a Chromebook for school, I HATE it.

Refurbished Dell Latitudes.  These are business class laptops and they'll have previous gen Intel processors in them.  I linked you to the E5440 set, which are 14" laptops with 4000-series processors. The E7240's are a bit smaller and have SSDs instead of mechanical hard drives, but they're a bit beyond your budget (I think there are some E5440s with SSDs but you'll have to look closely at the storage options).

Woot also has some refurb Dells. these are 3470s and 5470s with 6000-series processors.

One of those HP Streams are nice tbh. I have a HP Stream 11.6 Late 2016 model and its nice. It can even do some lighter gaming like Sims 3.  Id seriously recommend to grab a 64 or 128GB Micro SD if you go that route though. Them 32GB of internal storage is tiny trust me. Plus you would still have some budget left.
