Manually Install Windows 8.1 Updates?

So in panic after the wannacry out break I've been scrambling to update my system, the only problem was my Windows update was broken and I needed a working version of BITS to fix it. I have fixed BITS but now when I try to update my Windows It's stuck on searching for updates. I've tried tons of things to fix it almost everything on the interwebs but the only solution I've come up with is that Windows update itself is out of date and needs to be updated to properly communicate with Microsoft's servers. The only question that remains, what Updates do I need to download to get windows update up to date. Thanks in advanced. Also my windows update log:

reinstall windows or just upgrade to windows 10,

That's my last resort if it comes to that.
