Shall i get the ryzen 5 1600 with a gtx 1080

or the ryzen 7 1700 with a gtx 1070?

(2540-1440 60hz) monitor

I will use it for gaming, browsing, school work, watching videos.

I will most likely play games, listen to music(Spotify, chrome) and skype(discord) at the same time.

Do u guys have any suggestion and explanation why I should choose for that ?

1600+1080 (or even 1600+1070 and save some money). The 1080 will perform better in gaming and a 1700 won't benefit you much unless you do heavy rendering/other heavily threaded tasks.

I seriously doubt games will use more than 6c/12 in the useful lifespan of a 1700, so I'd say they'll last a similar amount of time. So I'd save the money and get a 1600.

Well why a 60hz 1440p, if you have alot of money GTX 1080 or 1080ti with 1440p 144hz

or if you want to save

RX580/GTX 1070 (RX580 will be cheaper)

and 1440p 144hz

i think for 1440P go with a 1080, I have a 1700 + 1080 and FPS is flawless - just make sure you have some fast DDR4, minimum 3200 mhm

If he wants to get 60 FPS @ 1440 then the GPU upgrade I believe is the way to go. With the 1070 he'd prolly be upgrading it in a year or two if he is playing new AAA games (Which have been massive disappointments for me lately :( . I'm sticking with older and indie titles for a bit. Even watching 3-5 hours of live streams, I get the game and it's like "60 bucks for this? It was so much better with a narrator." I'm pretty down on AAA gaming atm. I do like the 1700 a lot though. 1600 thumbs up, 1700 gets 2 (thumbs up).

There is enough youth in this world, how about a fountain of smart?

Mmm i am still not sure on what I am planning to buy I think I will save up for another 100 bucks and get the 1700 with the 1080 since I think that future games will use 6cores and in that case, I think the two extra cores help multitasking a bit. thnx guys for all the replies
