Soon, I'm getting my first 144hz 1440p monitor. Quite exiting considering I've had terrible pc's all my life and I got a 1080 FTW and have only been using a 1080p 60hz monitor which is considered blasphemy by today's standards (and I don't argue against that). The one I'm getting is the DELL S2716DG as it also has G-Sync. The only "downside" of it is it's TN panel. While i will agree that IPS has superbly better viewing angles and colours, does the viewing angle argument even hold for gaming? I hate people who straight up disregard TN panel monitors for the viewing angle when they're playing games. From what I know, you play games at a 90 degree angle to the monitor so it doesn't even matter, while IPS panels have their own mini lottery of backlight bleed. Is there something I'm missing or it the only true "gamer" issue for TN panels washed out colours (which I'm personally fine with)?

These are just observations from YouTube comments and forum threads I've seen around so if you can, please correct me if what I have said is wrong.

Thanks!

Even if you sit right in front of your monitor, all of the edges of the monitor are at a angle from your eyes. Viewing angles do matter. Good TN panels have decent enough viewing angles, but bad TN panels (see: laptops) one part of the screen looks different than another even when looking straight at it.

it will be perfectly fine and it sounds like a great monitor.

your best bet is to actually look at product reviews from people of have owned this specific monitor.

Youre going to be consuming content straight on and not at a 140degree angle....so their argument is invalid

Worst case scenario if you dont like the monitor....return it...people are so scared to use the 30day return window

I think it really comes down to what you're used to.

If you've been using a monitor with a TN panel before, then you'll be absolutly fine with using a TN panel again and new TN panels are really not that bad as people often say.
I believe the reason why so many people say that TN panels are bad is most likely because they are used to IPS panels and just want to show how superior their not so informed buying decision was.
