I found this HP Pavilion DV2000 special edition that's probably going to be recycled. It would be a nice computer, but it has problems. One is that the screen is white with a black bar in the middle and the white will start fading away when the computer is on. I think this might be a display issue and maybe replacing it will fix it. Though, I'm not completely convinced that is the cause of the white screen. However, what's making me think of bringing it back to recycling is that it seems to be suffering a graphics failure since sometimes when Windows boots up, there will be white dots on the screen. In the system setup, it also displays white dots (This is done with multiple monitors). I also get a STOP: 0x00000124 sometimes in a fresh install of Windows Vista. I actually had to disable automatic restart on failurentonget the computer to boot properly. I want to make sure this was a graphics issue, and not just something with the monitor. If it is a logic board issue, I'm definitely not going to be putting money into a logic board for the computer, and the chance of the computer being recycled is likely. Does anyone know where I can find diagnostic software for this computer to see if I can check the logic board?
