OK so, I'm planning on wiping my drive after almost 4 years, and doing a clean Windows 10 install. Since it's been so long since the last time I did this, and never for Windows 10, I'm wondering if there's any particular order for driver install I should follow, and which extra drivers I should definitely install.

I'm particularly curious about Intel's RST drivers, which for some reason I don't even recall anymore were recommended way back, as well as the Intel chipset drivers. Should I install either of those, and Is there any benefit to using pre-install versions where applicable?

Any tips would be appreciated :)

Install Windows first, then see what you have working. If you don't have the ethernet driver working (or Wi-Fi if you use it), you will need another computer to download the necessary driver. Get that installed, then find and download your GPU drivers. Even if you have full access to whatever display settings you need, still use the most up-to-date driver. After that, just install whatever's left and you're off. There is no real order that is required. Chances are Windows will include some (ethernet, diaplay, etc.) that work with your system, but you should always get the most up-to-date driver.

Main System: Phobos

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

You're probably overthinking this :D . Just go to motherboards support page and find drivers for selected motherboard (since I see you have same Mobo as me; http://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-Z87X-UD3H-rev-1x#support-dl ). Afterwards only GPU drivers and you should be set.

I can tell you how I wiped my drive for a clean install..

I first copied all of the important files, saved games and stuff I knew I'd need in the future to a second drive.

Then I did a clean install through Windows10.

After installing I downloaded Nvidia drivers and some other stuff you want like those microsoft visual C++.. Everything else is done automatically when installing.. At least that was my case. You can always download drivers from official web sites.

I clean installed all of the programs and copied the files from the second drive back to the primary drive.

It's pretty easy, you just have to be patient and make sure you got everything you need off that drive you're gonna wipe.
