Adding RAM to my laptop

Hey guys, I have this laptop: https://www.amazon.co.uk/HP-17-w200na-i7-7700HQ-Dedicated-Graphics/dp/B01N0ST9AP/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1493424739&sr=1-1&keywords=gaming+laptop

 

Love the performance and build quality, but the 8GB of RAM feels lackluster. Could someone help me out on what RAM i should get? Will there be issues if I use a random-branded, 2133MHZ DDR4 ram, does it have to be the same speed and brand?

It has to be the same type. Different brands are okay, and if you put in a faster or slower chip, it should run both chips at the speed of the slowest one, if that makes sense.

in general you should use same brand and speed but i don't think it is 100% important it will work just fine if not the same brand

I don't know what speed the RAM on this is, let's say its 2400 DDR4 Kingston (i think it is), so it will be fine if I just slap in a random Crucial 2133 8GB stick?

yes as Zando said it will just run the lower speed. for both sticks

Go to Crucial's site and download and run the scan tool, and it'll pop up in your web browser with what RAM is compatible with your system.
