I am going to build a new water cooling system, I would cool the cpu (i7-7700k) and gpu (1080ti)

I was thinking a 420mm Rad with 16 FPI and 3 140mm fans would be just fine: https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-coolstream-ce-420-triple

please judge differently

I couldn't really find that many 420mm rads so if you find one with a higher fpi that would be great.

don't think the difference would be that high imo,but maybe throw in another rad while you're at it?

I could with the r5 define case, but I have a budget...I heard the fpi greatly affects the amount of heat spread though out, but at the cost of noise.

you're right but "greatly" is relative,it won't get you as much as another rad would.

imo,not an expert on watercooling

how much do you value silence?

could care less as the r5 has like sound proof padding, it would dampen the sound.

Even if i didn't I wear sound canceling headphones.

In this case, yeah, a higher FPI count could serve you well.

Higher FPI radiators work best when you allow the fans to go to higher RPMs.

So if noise isn't much of a concern, go for it.

Check out Performance-PCs if you want to shop around for parts.

Here's a filtered search for 420 radiators from the brands I would personally trust.

You can't filter by FPI but that info is typically listed in the product pages.
