I would highly recommend installing either Mac or Windows alongside Linux since a lot of the major DAWs like Ableton and FL Studio aren't Linux compatible.

Use LMMS and watch some youtube videos. Making music is easy. Making music that sounds good and is appealing to others is the hard part

If your using linux I would use Ardour.

Yeah, there's a ton of other good options that I honestly should spend the time to learn but especially for beginners, Ableton and FL are so attractive since there's so many other people that use them (not to mention their interfaces are pretty intuitive in themselves)

Well Bitwig IMO is Ableton on steroids.I think it's much better and has a similar workflow to Windows.I Really wouldn't recommend doing that though because learning A DAW is a lot of work.And unlike it's like the Bitwig-Ableton Relationship switching DAWS is not a easy task.I would just Get bitwig and just reinstall it on Windows(if you can afford it)

Get a good pair of studio monitors. I use the Yamaha HS5 (Pair). Your ears get dull to the sound and you can't tell if anything's good if you use headphones when producing music. Having a good studio monitor(s) will definitely increase your quality. Also, get good plugins/synths, such as Massive and Serum, they're worth the money.

This is coming from a Linux fan, but I do kind of agree with cdsboy2000. I'm an FL Studio guy myself. I tried installing the latest version of it using Wine, but there was no text, so it was basically unusable.

It's great whether you wanna get serious with music or do it as a hobby. It's really easy to start making music with it and it has lifetime free updates. I have a lot of respect for Image-Line, the company behind FL Studio. They're very good to their customers and you get tech support directly from the developers. If you read the Image-Line forum every now and then, you'll learn a lot and there's a ton of useful stuff to download there as well.
