How do Multi-GPU setsups benefit Streaming?

Go to solution Solved by Xenift,

There really isn't any benefit to it.

If the source of the video output is from a console, then having 2 GPUs in SLI or XFire will not affect the quality or efficiency in which the data is streamed.

More so i think the main reason is that more of a redundancy factor, like since you are already streaming might as well get a beast ass computer so you can stream on the computer if you need to. Sorta thing.

Streamers are pretty rich :P.

Often time when I see the specs of people who stream I see setups that have two gpus in them running in either SLI or crossfire.  While I know that multi gpu setups give you more horsepower and typically result in better frame rates at higher settings etc...I was wondering how this specifically benefits streaming particularly if said stream is coming through a console game.  I could see it helping I guess with a PC game as it would take the stress off a single GPU trying to both render the game and help encode but I don't know nearly enough to know if thats true or not.  Moreover, how much is the benefit of having a multi gpu setup for streaming?  Is it to the point of necessity or is it more along the lines of just kinda nice to have slightly better experience?  Just curious.

Yeah I figured as much because granted I have a decently powered rig and I've streamed on occasion and haven't had any issues.  As far as I've seen the actual capture hardware itself has a far greater impact.  Oh and of course the internet connection.
