New gigabyte router

I am planning on getting a 1 gigabyte Internet from suddenlink I have a ASUS RT-AC88U Wireless-AC3100 router was wondering do I need a modem and if so any recommendations for one

you only need a modem / media bridge if the ISP uses anything but UTP RJ45 cable

Check information regarding the ISP.  Many times Fiber comes by with an "ONT" [Optical Network Terminal] that your network plugs into.  It's basically like a modem, but really just converts the optical signal into copper.  If this is how yours comes through, then you just need a traditional router.

Got a hold of my isp they said they use modem so any recommendations on a modem for the ASUS RT-AC88U Wireless-AC3100 router
