no display after gpu installation

hi .I just recently started with pc gaming etc.Im having some trouble trying to get a display on the monitor from my gpu.but when I connect the motherboard vga it works perfectly fine everything else is running like a charm gpu is plugged in etc fans are running but no display.could someone shed some light like literally a bright light

Check in BIOS settings that the dedicated GPU is chosen as the main one. You might need to connect to the onboard VGA for that and after changing back to the dedicated card.

nope still nothing.uhm I have a question would not installing the drivers also cause this problem coz I haven't installed it only realized that now.im using a msi rx 470 8g armor oc card with a msi b250m mboard core i3 7100

Nope. It shouldn't be a problem even though you haven't installed the driver for the GPU yet.

 

Try to re-seat your GPU, and do not disable your on-board display on your BIOS to have a backup port to check if you have a display or not. Only disable your on-board AFTER you checked and have your GPU working (showing display).

 

It happens to me sometimes. Regardless if the GPU is new, or if it's old and just finished cleaning my whole rig.
