I am over-studying myself on things I probably won't use in uni (such as bio ap, chem ap, physics c ap's) and other stuffs..

I am so freaking tired, all the time, and I hate my life so much while others my grade or even the grade above me are just rollin' and I'm hatin'.

The only reason I'm doing this (besides the fact that I'm an asian) is because I don't know what I exactly want to do when I grow up (I don't even know the general direction) so I'm trying to keep as many doors open as I can... well it's working but it takes SUCH a huge toll on me and I really wanna give up sleeping 3 hours a day.

Any advice? Should I just give up?

And to think about universities... gahh I just wanna flip the table, quit this sh*t but I know a. it's a waste and b. I'm probably gonna work at mcdonalds if I do that.

I'm not dumb; it's just that whatever I do I somehow think I must try my very best on it..

p.s. if all this doesn't make sense, sorry it's my angst talking.

TL;DR: My life's sh*t and I wanna give up

I used to be like you...I just went with the flow and wound up doing the best thing in the world for me.. But it took time....if all else fails go into what you're best in school at or enjoy the most.

Don't the struggle is worth it in the end. Also take a break.

The thing is, there's this cycle where I keep doing stuff until it's another day/week and basically that repeats without a gap until there's an unexpected holiday (not christmas) like remembrance day or pro d-day... I gave up trying to do things besides studying (mainly videomaking) a loong time ago due to this lack of time.

Sit your ass down, think what you like and can you get money from it in the future -> then stick to that...

Oh, now I remember why I don't ask personal questions on the internet. Thanks for reminding me that. For me it's not as just simple as choosing whatever's the best/most profitable out of all options... you're oversimplifying the problem

I enjoy math the most - but I don't think I'll be able to carry that into uni because a. there's not many jobs for pure math other than teaching, and I don't want to be tied to a school for extended time, and b. there's too many smart people in math as math is accessible to everyone.

Dont want to sound like an asshole, but it will take some more time for you to figure what to do with your life. If youre good with math why not try in some technology related subject.  Personally, if i didnt sucked on math i would try to get into engineering, but unfortunetly my life took a one way street and now im a dumb motherf*cker working at a gas station for minimal wage...

yeah i'm just hoping I would find that sooner than later because right now I'm going through shit to try to keep all the options open.

As for the technology related subject... I just.. don't find them interesting. Like, I'm 'good' at chemistry and physics but I don't like them.

I'm like you I study too hard. I was getting really sick of it in elemntary but now in high school(15 is the age in my country that u go to high school) where I am focused more in one direction(Mechatronics) I actually like studying! The 1st year is like elementary where you have a lot of general subjects but still they are reduced and stuff like technical drawings, mechanics, kinematics etc. etc. prevail. The next year i will learn how to use AutoCAD so that should be fun! Also a lot of the subjects(History,Chemics,Economics, etc.) are gona get dropped and a lot of new subjects that again have a lot of mechatronics stuff in em will come in.

Simplicity is what will make you happy Ookami. As for your comments James. Your thinking too far ahead my friend and your thinking too much of the present. You need to find yourself a balance. Nothing wrong with studying alot, but if you cant match that output with the same amount of imput, or attention to yourself, than you may aswell stop studying. There is no point in what ifs. There is no point in studying those topics unless your going to apply them, and as you've stated you dont intend too. Thats like going to the doctors clinic, to get your car serviced, it doesnt make sense. People place to much importance on money and future, yet for all they learn they forget the fragility of both of those things. Stop thinking how smart you are and what your good at, instead write a list of what you ENJOY, and rate that from 1-10 ( if there is 10 subjects ). Than narrow down that list until you find whats you. Ookami is right aswell, your only 17. Stop thinking like an adult wgen your just a young man. Everything has a time my friend, when you reach that time in your life, things will be alot clearier than what they are today. Just have to wait. Your future will come and with that more choices and questions, but you'll be at a more experienced level in life to answer them. Just take a breather, see where you are (undecided about future) and work from there ok. You'll be fine, enjoy being a young guy and don't feel pressured by yourself or others to grow up to fast. Life is meant to bring excitment and joy, you just got to find it my friend.

But most people want know exactly what they want to do, so sometimes its better to have more general knowledge. Also some things need to be studied for general knowledge(usually the boring stuff). However I'm with you I always try to narrow things into one are as much as possible. I don't like being a Jack of All Trades Master Of None
