Quick question about Memory clock

Hey, So i'm doing a bit of tweaking to my 1080 ti, and was just wondering what the memory clock means, and why it sits at around 6,000 Mhz, Is this right or should it be closer to 11,000 since the GPU has 11GB of dram. Feel free to point out my ignorance or very little knowledge as I need to learn the hard way apparently

The amount of VRAM is 11GB, yes, but the memory clock refers to how fast that 11GB is functioning. A crude analogy would be your Xeon, where the number of cores is 4, but those cores run at 3400 MHz.

@namandoesnotpanic Alright, Thanks. But when i'm looking at people posting their benchmarks and they say "I got my 1080 ti to 12100 Memory OC". What exactly does that mean?

I'm not sure... I don't think memory should be able to clock so high, but I don't have a 1080 Ti so can't say for sure.

Because it is still using a form of GDDR5  you have to times that 6000MHz by 2 to get the effective speed.
