PC Wont Start, Dead PSU?

Hi

Just wanted to run this one past the forums just to make sure I wasen't missing something.

I'm in a bit of a difficult situation as I have just shipped a PC sold on Ebay to the other side of the country only to be told its not working, the lights on the motherboard (On and Reset button lights and the LED strip around the audio section) all light up but the system wont start, the customer have verified all connections are plugged in but is unable to get the PC to start, they have also cleared the CMOS through the switch on the back which did cause the MB lights to go off for a second suggesting it did actually clear. However they can't start the system through the front panel power button or the one on the motherboard.

My thoughts suggest this might be a dead PSU, not sure how it would die in shipping (not the first time this has happened to me though)

Any other ideas as to what it could be, its a bit difficult to diagnose as I'm over the other side of the country.

Well the PSU has to be delivering some kind of power, do any fans spin up when he presses the button? Has he tried a different wall socket? He should try plugging directly into a socket if he's using extensions or whatever.

Nah nothing spins up or powers on at all, the motherboard lights are on as they would be while the machine is on standby and thats as far as it gets, no sign of anything changing when he tries powering it up from the case switch or the onboard switch.

I can ask him to try a different wall socket, I'm not too keen on asking him to bridge or short any connections but if it comes to it I guess I will have to.
