So I'm starting to look at a low end build for a friend, he needs to have wireless capabilities for his housing situation but I'm unsure what to do because I've never worked with wireless pc's. I notice some motherboards come with on board adapters, and i know there are wireless adapters for pci slots, there are also USB options, I was wondering what would be worthwhile for his shit tier internet that might max out at 25Mbs.

Just go usb. Simple, cheap, no real knowledge for the user required so you won't be getting calls saying "My wireless on PC ... isn't working but everything else is fine" all the time.

That's what I was thinking for this speed and that he lives a couple states over

Onboard wifi is fine, but keep in mind those mobo's usually are a bit more expensive, so if you're on a really tight budget a USB adapter might be the most cost effective solution.

I'd go for a reliable brand, like TP-Link or Netgear.

Does you mum know you're here?
