ServerOS development

I am developing a distro openSUSE Leap 42.1 called ServerOS for x64 systems. It is based on openSUSE Leap 42.1 and has many of the most popular server programs built in. I was hoping that if i get enough users and developers, I could start doing weekly or even nightly builds and have this compete with something like FreeNAS (even though it's unlikely). It would be great if people can help and pitch in ideas on the GitHub and help make this idea happen. The GitHub address is: https://github.com/JoshuaBishop/ServerOS

And the suseStudio link is:

https://susestudio.com/a/jLk2DC/serveros

Thank you for reading and I hope you will make servers easy to run and affordable to the public. If they need to for some reason.

-Joshua

I don't get the point of this, SUSEStudio already lets you customize the OS to your needs. Are you just acting as the middleman and clicking the buttons for them? I'm confused, please provide more details.

if it was based on dragonflyBSD I would help. I am currently trailing dragonflyBSD as a file server because it has a lower spec requirement from freeNAS

ill just throw this in i really like snort and the web interface that pfsense uses for it

I'm hoping there is more to it because if you need a point and click GUI to build an OS that you want to pass off as your own (when another OS developer is doing the heavy lifting) then it's a failed project from the start.

Nice, unfortunately your GitHub only has some text files. Let me know when you commit your changes.

The file is the Build 0.0.1 Public Release text file. It contains the link. GitHub doesn't support files over 25mb

Oh, I thought you were building your own OS. Sorry, like I said before this thread is confusing.

Changed the thing so it says it's a distro. Sorry

I don't see much information nor screenshots to really understand what is being offered. Did you develop a front end to make deployment / configuration / management easier? You mention competing with FreeNAS and this is exactly what they do (otherwise I could recreate FreeNAS on my own with no web GUI).

Or is this similar to Ubuntu Server - where default packages are selected on the user's behalf, but otherwise users are still required to config each service manually?

It is meant for quick deployment and setup using SSH or telnet until I finish the web GUI.
