Should i buy apples new iPad (2017) for taking college notes or should i spend more money by repairing my cracked screen macbook pro retina that costs like 500+ to repair

No, you should buy "The New iPad", which was released in 2014.  "The New iPad" is now two or three generations old. 

 

Sorry, couldn't help myself.  Apple has such stupid naming schemes.  Just give it a year or version number FFS.

 

You should look up repair videos, but a repair kit from iFix it, and do it yourself.
