I've been trying to make VMware workstation 12 run my Windows 10 VM, but I always get this BSOD everytime I run it on my rig. Same BSOD appears when I re install windows 10, it only happens when I use windows 10 as my host OS. I've been scratching my head for the past hour now and I need windows 10 to run on my PC without any hitches.

RIG(simplified)

6700 non-k

Gigabyte h170-n WIFI

G-skill 16gb DDR4

and yes, it's a one week old windows install

---------------------------Video Evidence -------------------------- Must watch :o

What the hey....

Hang on, I'm confused.

Could you make it clearer what exactly your trying to do because the title makes it sound like 10 is the guest OS but the post says 10 is the host OS.

What OS is your computer running?

What OS are you trying yo install onto VM Ware?

Main Rig:-

Ryzen 7 3800X | Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming | 16GB Team Group Dark Pro 3600Mhz | Corsair MP600 1TB PCIe Gen 4 | Sapphire 5700 XT Pulse | Corsair H115i Platinum | WD Black 1TB | WD Green 4TB | EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650W | Asus TUF GT501 | Samsung C27HG70 1440p 144hz HDR FreeSync 2 | Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS |

Server:-

Intel NUC running Server 2019 + Synology DSM218+ with 2 x 4TB Toshiba NAS Ready HDDs (RAID0)

So your running a 10 VM on a 10 host. OK, which one is crashing, host or guest?

Guest OS. I also left a link on a video, just in case

Have you installed VMWare Tools?

A google search suggests this bsod is usually caused by faulty hardware (not likely on a VM) or a kernel mode driver malfunctioning and the only thing that could be is VMWare Tools. I'd suggest you remove VMWare Tools and see if the crashing stops otherwise it would have to be a configuration issue with the VM settings.

In VMWare you can click Help > Check For Updates and it will update the Tools images. Give that a try then if it updates reinstall Tools.

Sure thing, I'll give that a shot. I'll update this thread once I updated VMware. One thing I remembered though, I saw a very random post that specifies some sort of changes made on the .vmx file that made it work. But it's something I can't find anymore :/
