Pc restarts at random

My pc randomly shuts down when I launch games. It is not thermal throttling because I have a aio for my cpu. I checked my power supply and I have have over enough wattage for my pc. I dont know what else could cause my pc to shutdown randomly.

This is almost certainly a power supply issue. Can you share your PC specs with us to verify?

650 watt power supply

16gb of ballistix ram 

512 gb ssd from crucial 

gtx 970 asus strix 

asus p9x79 deluxe

You have plenty of wattage so perhaps you have a bad PSU or maybe a bad PSU cable. I also recommend checking your CPU temps using core temp to verify something isn't wrong with your AIO. Check if all you case/rad fans are spinning.

 

This problem is almost always a heat or power issue

I thought that to when it first started happening, Luckily I had a warranty so I thought I was good. When the new psu came in I had the same problem. I was not asked to return the cables though. How Would I check out if I had any bad cables? i'll also check the temps

I Was checking temps and the highest any of the cores was 68 degress C

You might try resetting the CMOS on the motherboard. Also, try using another outlet (or remove surge protectors if you have one).

you might wanna reseat your aio there and don't forget to replace thermal paste.. 

 

may i know the brand of your psu?

the brand is evga it's 80+ gold 650 watt

ive reset the aio still getting restarts. I have not found how to reset the cmos though. I also ran intel burn test and the highest temp was 61 C under reg settings

There should be a black jumper on the motherboard, usually you have to remove it and place it on the next pair of pins (read mobo BIOS). Alternatively, remove the CMOS battery and wait for a bit.

 

That's pretty strange though, I guess it's not a PSU issue. Maybe the motherboard is bad?
