LAN Remote Desktop - Help

Does anyone know of a program that has the functionality like Teamviewer, but more oriented for Streaming media like Steam's inbuilt Inhome streaming feature but for more than just games? over LAN that is.

Teamviewer gets too choppy at times and knocks out my DNS for some reason.
Chrome Remote Desktop does not do remote connections over LAN but has the best video quality, speed and functionality so far.
Steam in-home streaming almost perfects my requirements but is more game oriented and only works for applications booted under steam.
Splashtop Remote desktop is absolutely horrendous with video streaming over LAN which feels like a 5FPS experience even on static images.

I also need these applications to work on Windows/Linux
