Just wondering what the "go to" or "best" ripping software is to go for. Like, I have an optical drive and yeah I've bought the media (obviously), but I hate being bound to only being able to use an optical drive

edit - looking for lossless options

I've set people up with following this guide before: http://lifehacker.com/how-to-rip-a-dvd-to-your-computer-5809765 it's free and easy.

If you're looking to do Blu Ray's, I use http://www.acrok.com/video-converter-ultimate/ and that also works well enough, though it costs $60.

It will be a pain to get the right combination of settings for making a good looking and not overly large files.

Is Acrok a lossless option?

discs, cds, blu rays, dvds, etc...

I editted my post just now to include a software for blurays. I'm under the impression you can make an exact image (copy) of disks that have, say, software, using something like PowerISO -- which should allow you to open the iso & obtain its files after the image is created.

I wonder if it would be that easy though. It sounds too good to be true.

I don't see why it couldn't be that easy? It's a bit-for-bit copy of what's on the disk; doesn't remove or magically bypass any DRM.

Also, I apologize for editting my posts after you see them. I've got a bad habit of not finishing my thoughts before hitting post.

You're fine, I appreciate the public statement and response so that users can be aware of the changes.
