I only have cat5e cables. I plug one into the router straight to my pc 50mb down 20mb up I plug it up in my room from the booster 30mb down  17mb up can anyone tell me why I know there is a distance but I would not of thought it would go down that much

A lot of the time the electrical wiring in the house just isn’t ideal for power-line Ethernet. Maybe there’s too much distance between two plugs, or maybe there’s interference on the line. Or maybe it’s aliens.

 

It’s almost impossible, without consulting an electrician, to know how well power-line Ethernet will work for you. Even if your house is ideal, the result probably won’t be as fast or as stable as plugging straight into your network with an Ethernet cable.

I agree I was om 50mb broadband and everything was fine but when I upgraded to 200Mb/s I saw speeds capped at 80Mb/s despite having 300mb powerline adapters
