New Rig (suggestions/comments)

spotnyk

Hey everyone, I'm about to order stuff for my new rig (replacing my old one).

I'm looking for comments and suggestions for this one. This will be the first time I've ever use water-cooling, so I want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

UPDATE: I already have a ASUS 1080ti on order, which is why there is no graphics card in the list.

UPDATED PARTS LIST: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PH3GNN

Thanks a lot!

You need a GPU and I'd drop the RAM back to 16GB.

It's a good question. I do YouTube (and other) videos and am hoping the bump from 16 (current box) to 32 will help my render times in Adobe Media Encoder. I'm not quuuuuite clear enough on that to know for sure.

I forgot to mention that I already have an ASUS 1080ti on order. I've updated the post. Also, as I mentioned to AnnoyedSelf, I'm hoping the bump to 32 will help my AME render times. Is this an BS hope? :)

If you want to boost your render times then have a look at Ryzen 7 CPU'S they have 8 cores and 16 threads. RAM isn't going to do much in the way of render times.

Alright, I was worried about that.

If a went with Ryzen what chip and board would you recommend.

I'd like a board with duel gigabit as I'm hoping to bind them to talk faster with my fileserver (which will also be a new one for me).

I'm not sure on the AM4 motherboards just pick the one you like the look of and has the features you want.

Oh, also, will the Corsair H115i 104.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler work with the R7 chip?

It is having DDR4-3866. Ryzen CPUs depend on RAM speed so this one should be good.

If you are going with an M.2 SSD then the Samsung 960 EVO is much better (Faster) than the MX300.

You should be able to get near 4GHz with the Hero board and X61 cooler.
