4G+ is probably 'LTE-A', assuming you're one of the lucky people with LTE-A

it depends on your country..

Here in Canada, it means that you're using a better LTE band and therefore will have better LTE speeds, but it's still LTE

4G could mean either LTE, or HSPA+ (Depends on the carrier and country, again)

What is the difference between 4G and 4G+, is 4G+ means 4.5G?

Context Matters!

How can I activate 3G(not H+) on my phone?

3G is H+

3G is also H

3G is also.. 3G.

your phone will automagically connect to the best technology available, you cannot really change it from H+ to H/3G but you can change it from LTE to H+

Why can't they use the actual names for the protocols instead of those marketing BS? "HD" also comes to mind. You read something and can't really know what it is, because they are all blanket terms :(

hd = 720p or higher

full hd = 1080p

uhd / 4k = 2160p

if it does not list full hd, its disgusting 768p

they cant use the actual name because its confusing.. i mean, there's 3g the blanket term, 3g the technologies and 3g the technology itself (eg, 3g speed, im using 3g, i dont have hspa so im using 3g)

blanket terms make sense here.

"HD" is still being vaguely thrown around for even 480p. Hell, on certain video sites the "HD" is simply the "Setting" button and when you click it you are presented with all kind of resolutions available.

I'm not sure why it's confusing?? I thought the whole point of this thread was that the OP was actually confused by the blanket term, whereas if he was told "it is LTE" he would have the information he was after.

ಠ_ಠ

the minimum for HD is 720p..

Well, I find it somewhat confusing myself. Ah, English..

Yeah "HD" is meant for 720p. But everyone just uses it as "high definition", which is subject to what anyone thinks of as "high" :/ Same with the whole 3G/4G crap. Each can mean a number of different technologies.

Providers use that to make you buy the better plan on three for example 4g is -50mps but 4g+ is unlimited.
