Need advice on VESA mounting

Hi

 

So im about to buy the acer x34A monitor. But my issue is that my desk is quite shallow, measuring in at 45cm front to back. Therefore the x34's stand would leave me almost no room in front of it.

 

I want to VESA mount it, but ive never used one before, and im having trouble finding one that would fit my desk. My desk around the edges has 8cm deep, 2cm wide oak panels that mean you cant just screw a normal vesa mount onto it (see attatched pics)

 

Are there any vesa mounts that have more than 2cm of space to allow for the screw-plunger thingy to go on the inside of the desk? Or would there be another solution to mount this monitor that wouldnt involve a drill?
