Friend flashed VaporX 7970 BIOS onto Dual X 7970 switch 2. Now only part of the screen displays and what does show looks to be in anaglyph 3D. Switch 1, of course, works fine. How does he flash back or reflash the 2nd BIOS. He won't explain what he did wrong. Asked him again, as I'm on comms with him now. Won't admit any fault. Says it displayed a warning when trying to flash Direct CU2 BIOS. So instead flashed Vapor X. How do I help him as I have yet journied into the custom GPU flashing?

What utility is he using to flash? Honestly if he can't look up how to reflash the second BIOS on Google by himself he really shouldn't be messing with his card by flashing different BIOSes. Is there even any advantage to the VaporX 7970 BIOS in the first place?

In order to reflash the bios, I would first do these flashing in a DOS environment if the person did it in Windows before because it is safer imo. Create a DOS bootable usb and download atiflash and your videocard bios and put these two files (exe and bios) onto the DOS usb. Boot into the dos environment with the working bios and after its booted switch to the broken bios and type :

atiflash –p 0 biosname.romIf you want a forced flash:atiflash –p 0 –f biosname.rom

Replace biosname.rom with the bios and press enter to flash it.

Not responsible if it bricks the card.

Thanks. He flashed in command prompt. I was thinking it was just a bad flash, hopefully.

I think it was winflash or something close in name. His dual x card only gets to 59* at load. It's voltage locked. So flashing an unlocked BIOS is necessary in getting the most out of it. It's a 65% asic, so it should be able to handle higher Vs with the excessive leaking.
