Hello anyone whom may be able to give me some advice,

I have installed an archer T6E PCI-e wifi adapter from Tp-link installed in my desktop at the moment, and since I built the computer 6 weeks ago my wifi speeds have never been perfect.  Sadly in my current living situation, I'm not able to have my tower close enough to the router to get on the 5G bandwidth network from my router, so i use the 2.4G network.  According to the network status I still have a 300Mbps connection with the router on this 2.4G network.  However despite my 100Mbps internet speed at my house, only 20Mbps is acheived on my PC when doing speed tests.  Would someone mind explaining to me this difference? I'm not that informed on networking as a whole.

That internet speed of 20 is matched if i put my phone or tablet right onto the antennas of the PCI-e adapter; however moving them six inches away from the tower boosts the wireless speed on my phone or tablet to 60Mbps.  So i am curious whether other computer components could be causing some kind of weird interference?  Again, sorry if these are really stupid questions.

I know this could all be resolved using a wired connection but sadly that isn't an option for me right now.  Thank you in advance for anyone who can enlighten me on this and just give me a little bit of information. also if i have missed any key information please don't hesitate to remind me and i will post it pronto!

Thank you so much for replying so quickly!

I was definitely concerned about a blindspot indeed.  Think in this case i am alright on that front, but its very interesting to see that the metal from my PC could reduce throughput by such an extent! Thank you so much for your help i really appreciate it!

One last thing i am wondering is why despite a 300Mbps connection to the router in my house i dont get the 100Mbps that comes with my internet at this range from the router?

You won't get the full 300Mbps speeds because you're using Wi-Fi. What you're seeing that says 300Mbps is the link speed to the router, but not what can actually be achieved. The computer and the router have linked in a way that would allow up to 300Mbps operation, but due to the weirdness of Wi-Fi it more than likely won't actually achieve that speed. You must remember the fact that Wi-Fi is not solid in every area. That is the main reason I've almost completely given up on Wi-Fi for everything except mobile phones and tablets. I now walk around with a 100ft. Cat6 cable for my laptop (but I don't expect most people to do the same). I'd recommend trying PowerLine and see what it does for you. If it doesn't work, that's normal.
