So I bought a 7600K today and have it being cooled by my water chiller but somehow it spikes into the 80C territory when i stress test it.  Its on 1.3V right now and im just baffled since my 1070 hardly hits 15C under hours of load.  At first i thought it was a bad pasting but it all seems to have spread fine so i put it back on and same problem still.

15C? Thats an error, it will idle much higher than that unless your room is - 20C, im on water, my 1080 idles at 24C.

Voltage seems high for stock for a 7600k, also, what are you overclocking it? And what are you using to stress test it? What water cooler is it?

15C isnt an error it will go down to about 3C at idle, I have a water chiller that is nearly at freezing point.

So right now its at 5Ghz and i have used intel burn test and then prime95 to stress it.  As for the cooler its the apogee XL2 i think is the exact name, its the swiftech waterblock

Quick question, is it actually running at 1.3v, or did you just set it to run at that and assumed that's what it would be running?

It could simply be the fact that you're using Prime95 as it generates quite a load.  How much current is running through the CPU?  That is, how much wattage are you seeing reported on the CPU package?

I suggest using something else, CPU-Z can be unreliable at times. Get HWMonitor and send a ptinr, showing VCORE and VID readings.

I'll have to check again but I think it was 91Watts which could totally be wrong but when I get home I'll do it again and confirm

Yah I also used HWmonitor but it was giving me the same readings so I just used CPUZ since it launched quicker.  And I'm guessing you meant a print screen of that stuff
