Capacitive sandblasted mirror?

Is it possible to use a sandblasted mirror (see through, so basically non reflected section.) to use as a capacitive button?

 

I have to sandblast the mirror, but I don't know how else to incorporate sandblasting in a smart mirror.

I've looked a little into it and it should work if I just cut out the silver backing.

 

Just confirming that if it's sandblasted it will still work.

Most use a two way acrylic or a sheet of glass with privacy/two way film where the backlight from the screen behind will shine through. Sandblasting the front of the glass will make it all foggy so it don't think that will work well.

Fogginess doesn't impact how capacitive it is though right?

 

I would actually prefer it to be foggy so that the led for the button floods into it.

That shouldn't affect it as long as the capactive sensor is able to sense it through the material since a mirror would be quite a lot thicker than on say a cellphone screen.
