Hello I am building a cheapish server PC to be running a minecraft server 24/7. I was thinking maybe an 8320 but I'm not sure how it will hold up running 24/7. So I'm going to be running Linux, and I don't want a graphics card, and I want 8-16 gigs of ram. I want at least 250 gigs of 7200 rpm storage from a brand that ISNT Hitachi. I already have an ATX case and I don't need another, its the same with the optical drive.

Thanks in advance

If you're going FX, you need a dedicated graphics card.

FX 8320 should be just fine. But, that depends on how many people you have. Also, make sure to have enough RAM. But again, that depends on how many people you plan to have on your server.

I used to run a Minecraft Server on a Core 2 Duo @2.66 ghz and 6gb of ddr2 RAM. I was able to host 5 people at once. Although, I have never tried to let more people on.

I was thinking 10 people per gig except 1 gig for the OS

How many people do you plan to host for?

Why not hitachi?
