Im looking into getting some good speakers and need a place to start. A lot of what i'm looking at needs an amplifier of some sort to use the speakers. im new to audio so i'm not sure what to be looking for. but what im looking for is clean, loud audio, and surround sound for when im watching movies and tv. I also want it to be able to hook up to my pc.

so will this system be mostly hooked up to your TV and only some times connected to your PC?

Here is an all in one solution that i have used for my home computer for a little over 2 years now and have been extremely happy with, although i am not sure how it will go with a TV.

Logitech Z506 Surround Sound 5.1 Speaker System

I also use the z506 like @JohnnyCorporalTech. I can say theyre really good for the price. But, they won't work well for both a TV and PC setup because they are 5.1 surround. That means you need the rear left and right behind (Or flanking) you for them to sound right, and unless you're redoing their setup each time you go between TV and your pc then that won't work. I would say look for a good 2.1

A budget would be nice. A good 2.0 or 2.1 system can be obtained fairly cheaply if you are willing to look used.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Around 300$ budget to start and as in tv I meant watching tv though the computer.

A good new 2.0 system would be the JBL LSR 305, they should go for around 270$, but if you are willing to take the time then you can find some much better speakers used within your budget.
