Hi,

so I plan to upgrade to watercooling to reduce noise and get lower temps for some OC. I know that my CPU for now will not be overclockable but I will buy a new one in the next months once the price has fallen a bit more. I will use it for gaming/office on at least one 4K monitor plus another 1080p monitor(will maybe upgrade to a second 4k sometime). I also think about buying a second GTX 1080 that should also be included in the water cooling loop. So the radiators should be able to handle the heat from CPU + 2 GPU. I want the system to be pretty silent, which is why I did not go for the high static F series fans. Will the 2x360 rads be enough to have a silent system? I also really like the case because the motherboard is aligned horizontally.

I have had a water cooling kit a few years ago so I am not completely unexperienced however I have no idea about fittings sizes and so on.

I have made the following list of parts that I have/need. Thinks without pricetag are already in my current system:

What I have:

  • PSU                       Corsair RM1000X
  • Storage                  Some SSDs
  • GPU                       Palit GTX 1080 GameRock
  • Motherboard          Asus z170-a
  • CPU                       i7 6700

What I buy:

The prices are straight from the vendor websites so I might get them cheaper, I know. This is just for planning for now.

Will this work out?

Did I forget something and are there better alternatives?

Will the pump+res work with the two 2 360 radiators?

I know that GPU and CPU prices will probably fall in the next weeks, which is why I will stay with the parts I have for now and add them later.

If you are water cooling and getting a Z170 chipset MBO, you might as well as get the i7-6700K. If the CPU doesnt have the "K" at the end, you won't be able to overclock

Yea you mentioned overclocking, if you're CPU doesn't have the on the end you won't be able to OC it.

Thanks for the replies but as I stated before, everything without a pricetag is something I already own and plan to upgrade the CPU/GPU in the future. So I already own the 6700 from my previous air cooled setup and am aware that it cannot be overclocked. I will eventually switch to 7700K in the future once the price drop has arrvied at the resellers but for now I want to upgrade the cooling first since that alone is a big pile of money. I edtited the first post to make this more clear.

Are the radiators enough for the tdp (451W) of 2 x 180W of gtx 1080 plus the 91W for probably an 7700k?

Can the pump handle those radiators?

Will the system be silent or do I need to add more radiators?

Are the fans fine for silent operation?
