Home media server

I would like to start this out with acknowledgement that i'm a noob in the sphere of home media serving. I am however a experienced computer enthusiast. In the real world I'm a highly skilled electrician/machine tech. I am looking into converting my home rig to pull double duty. I really need help with raid config(which to use) I will be utilizing PLEX only because of the number of potential users and their location to me, my parents travel extensively abroad, my in-laws are not tech savvy but could navigate the app, and lastly my siblings live more than just out of town. I'm at work and don't have much time to go into computer specs if in the event someone, anyone picks up on my thread i'll dive in and ramble off what i have under the hood. Thanks everyone

I'm sorry for rambling on the question is what raid config should I use. I plan to have four 4TB WD red drives. Again I'm so new to this I was impulsive and purchased 5400 rpm drives on a great deal. If 7200 rpm is preferred ill change up and go that way. I will have these HDD connected to an LSI9260-8I. If you would like I'll enter the rest of my rig specs

two ways: RIAD 5 on the Controller or Software RAID (ZFS or Storage Pools(Windows))

Okay whats the pros/cons to storage pools over raid 5. And is there a program what runs ZFS file system on a win10 machine I've read and seen youtube vids by the tons for ZFS but again not sure if it fits for my needs

get one more drive and go with a freenas server raid 6 - zfs u can lose up to 2 drives
