Dead GPU/New one

My GPU seems to be dead (its only a year old too... huh). It's a gtx 980 from msi with a water cooler. Today, games would crash with something like "rendering device crashed" or something and have a weird checker effect and then shut off my game. Then, once, it went out and wouldn't turn back on. Why is this and is there anyway to fix it? If I have to get a new GPU, are there any white colored GTX 1080s that you all know of? I haven't seen any and want to stay with my computer's white theme. Sounds like a dead GPU, you could try RMAing it.
