Bluetooth not reconnecting

I have a BT adapter and BT headphones, and recently the two will not reconnect to each other.  It used to be that I could simply turn on the headphones and they would connect, as you'd expect from paired bluetooth devices. Now, I'm having very inconsistent luck with pairing at all, as my device doesnt get listed in pairing mode.

 

This started happening after upgrading my motherboard/cpu/ram. (the motherboard does not have built in BT). My suspicion is the motherboard's audio drivers conflicting?
