Should I buy the i7-6700k for 259.99 now or wait and see if there's a better price drop in the next month or two? Microcenter is having a sale on the 6700 and the 7700 but I don't know which to get. The 7700 is 299.99 I'm probably going to get a Z270 board either way.

Don't buy it. It doesn't feature out of factory RBG on the stock cooler. That means it doesn't perform well.

... Lol, thanks for the answer but not really helpful

Wait for Ryzen benchmarks pretty please?

I don't really need the 16 cores, it's going to be a gaming build. I'd rather speed on 8 threads than more threads.

Well it wasn't directly helpfull, but I'd recommend waiting for a bit if you can. Ryzen seems promising and even if you want Intel, you might see a pricedrop soon because of Ryzen. The RGB joke was a reference to the new Ryzen stock coolers.
