Hi there!

It's Pete from Germany.

I follow the hole AMD ryzen release since ages and also can't wait till the Radeon GPU's finally lounge.

Both have an huge impact on the marked for sure, and I was so glad to hear about the pricing of similar powerful CPU's (Intel 7700k - Ryzen 1700 for example) being in Ryzens advantage.

The shown footage of the Ryzen lounge "Party" which we can find everywhere in the www always tells about a 20 dollar (US) price advantage for the 1700 (329USD)  over the 7700k (350USD).

Curious about the pre-order campaign, I searched for the CPU and wanted to know how much it will be in Germany then.

And I really wasn't impressed.

It's 359.00Euro for the Ryzen, while the 7700k is at 359.50.

There is no price advantage what so ever.

Just for completion the other prices:

1700  - 359Euro // I7 7700K   359.50  Euro

1800x - 559Euro // I7 6900K 1099.85 Euro

1700x - 439Euro // I7 6800K   433.70 Euro

(Source -> "Geizhals.de")

I also heard from other countries where the price advantage on ryzens side is not existent.

My question would be why this is.

Is AMD manufacturing the chips in the US or is there any other reason?

Thanks guys in advance!

Import taxes ... you need to convert dollars to EUR, then add around 20%. And that's how you get EU prices.

mindfactory or caseking usually have the cheapest avaliable hardware parts ... even I'm ordering from Germany, just because it's always cheaper than in my country (Slovenia). Even when I add those 20€ for shipping, it's still cheaper xD

Prices suck in other countries because your government sucks.  It's a global market, so prices should be the same everywhere.  yet they are not.  Blame your local overlords.

To be honest if you watched the stream you would see that those prices are pretty just, every CPU that AMD mentioned that Ryzen is going up against out performs it by quite some amount in most case. The pricing is good, great even and should hopefully shake up the CPU market for the next year or two. I mean the even if the 1700 is the same price as a 7700k it has double the cores and double thre threads and in the Cinebench test that they showed it was 46% better than the 7700k. That's quite a difference so all in all ryzen is very competitively priced.

@Simon ..yes sure there are import taxes and what not, but both, Intel and AMD have to pay those taxes, so there should still be a difference in price to see, but clearly its not. The 20 USD advantage on the 1700 over the 7700k is gone.

@CostcoSamples ...what a waste of time dude, keep it to yourself

@squibbies ..yes I absolutely agree with you. If Ryzen performs that much better in real life conditions it's an outstanding price point even when the price is exactly the same. I'm the kind of guy who waits till I see some benchmarks tho. I just wandered where the price difference is gone

Must come down to your taxes or import charges. Or the sellers are adding a little extra to make a bit more money

In the UK at Scan, the 1700 is 319.99, where as a 7700k is 339.99(though at the moment its on sale at 329.99, wonder why xD )

Must come down to your tax rates and import charges, or the companies selling them are marking them up a little bit.
