So to put it basically, I want to run my second and third monitor off of a different graphics card. I have done this in my system before with a GTX 645 borrowed from a friend. This worked without a problem for a fair bit of time. I needed to change what card I was using for my monitors as the old one is no longer available to me.

My main card is a Radeon R9 380. I picked up a Radeon HD 6870 cheap and put it in the system. I ran the installer for the drivers (once I found ones that worked for the card) but nothing worked. so I took out the R9, uninstalled all drivers and just ran with the HD. This was mostly just to check the card is working and everything is fine... until I put the R9 back in and had to put its drivers back on. After installing the R9's drivers the HD card stopped working. So I went back to stage one and did it again, 3 times.

If you hadn't picked up on the key question by now I would like to know if it is possible to run two Radeon cards in one system without crossfire. I think the problem is that the two drivers are over writing each other, dose anyone know if this is the case or is there something I am missing?

Thanks for the help I hope someone will provide..

You will need to download the latest driver that supports both cards.

Would you have any idea where I could find this driver that supports both?

If I try and use the 'detect my hardware tool' Radeon provide for their drivers it says that the HD card needs legacy drivers but it installs the R9 card fine. Because the HD card is a few years old now and probably not supported anymore but the R9 is still sort of new and updated is there a chance that there wont be a driver that supports both?

What OS do you have and what bit version is it?

Windows 10 64bit.

The only driver I found was this one http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/previous/detail?os=Windows 10 - 64&rev=15.7

But have in mind this driver is from 2015 so you will have perfomance issues and some games may not even work ect.

It's a to big generation difference to have it really working fine.

So try that driver and best of luck.
