First please note that I dont really know anything about this type of stuff and that this is a two part question:

1. I have a Phillips hue starter kit that I bought in Europe and now I live in the United States. The lights dont work with the voltage here, and I have found some step up voltage converters that could work, however it has come to my attention that a possible better way to change this would to be to use an isolation transformer to convert the voltage. I have found something like this on amazon  that would convert the AC to DC. So the question is would the lights work with DC? They say 230-240V AC 50/60 Hz.

2. If not what could I do to get them to work? I would like to put them into the roof, but I also have a lamp that I could get the converter for.

Thanks in advance!
