I am being serious. Maybe the hotel blocked it, IDK. Do your parents have access to your laptop or whatever your using?

@creepybobDownload any VPN or be a nice guy and spend ~5$ a month on a Tunnlebear subscription with one of LMG's affiliate links and support them. Even if youre not willing to pay tunnlebear is a good option though. Once you got your vpn running you should be able to run steam flawlessly again :)

There's another option, if you are not going to play online. Use you mobile's data to give your laptop an access point, connect to steam and play, or use the offline mode. This way youll only have to send a few packages.

(And yeah, It looks like they closed the ports that steam uses or restringed their IP).

Haha all advertising is brain washing, they make you get their product stuck in your head, so whenever you're in the market for the product you will go to theirs first.

Be careful with this if you have limited data, make sure your computer doesn't have background process that use data, like updating Antivirus or something.

Well if it's just to start steam, after that he can switch it to Offline mode and disconnect from the internet.

Yep, thats true, but I like to think that Linus is a good person and only sponsors reliable and good products  :3

Theres something more. Depending on the brand of the mobile you can set a limit of data to the access point. You limit Ot to 5-10MB which a huge amount of data so you can make sure It connects to steam regarding the background process going on, or just, as they said, check all the apps who uses data and close them before connecting!

If hes on Windows 10 though, it will activate the option for clocked connections and thus reducing data usage by a good bit.

Haha not saying he isn't or the products are bad. I've bought many things because he recommends them. I was just saying how all advertising works :P

Isn't there an option that let's you start offline when you start steam and finds no connection? Like, it gives the error and below it says "start offline" I think. So he wouldn't need Internet to even start it for that.

Can you elaborate on this? Never heard of this clocked connections before.

There is, but if it's still the way it was before, you would need to have manually put steam in Offline mode at least once, before being able to start it offline that way.
