R.A.T 4 scroll wheel not working

hey guys, my friend brought a madcats rat 4 the other day she is using it on a laptop, but cant get the scroll wheel to work,she has downloaded the drivers and software from the website but still not working,

any advice ? or things to try ? or should she just take it back ?
running windows 10

AMD (and proud) r7 1700 4ghz-

asus rog crosshairs vi hero x370-

MSI 980ti G6 1506mhz slix2 -

h110 pull - acer xb270hu 1440p -

 corsair 750D - corsair 16gb 2933
