So I just bought the NZXT s340 Elite White (I'm in love with this case btw https://www.nzxt.com/products/s340-elite-black ) and installed everything.

I just HATE the way my GPU looks while installed normally... I don't want to see the back of my card/PCB. I want to see the beautiful heatsink/fans.

I did a little searching and found that you can buy risers or extenders, to change the positioning of the card inside the case; so that the heatsink faces the window and not the bottom floor of the case.

My question is:

Are these safe to use?

Do you have any suggestions on which to buy?

Will I have to alter my case at all to make this work?

Will I lose any performance?

Thank you!!

Yeah I was thinking about that.

I don't exactly WANT to modify my case. But I can make this possible with a few tools.

well, i've never actually bought one but just get one with good reviews

Ubuntu 24.04 on Ryzen 5 5600x and GTX 1070

Mint 22 on Razer Blade i7-11800h and RTX 3070

1) Yes, they are safe

2) Look for one that is shielded and make sure it is a PCIe 16x to 16x. Quite a lot of them are 1x to 16x

3) You will need to find a way to mount the card vertically and have room for the video outputs. So basically yes, you'll need to modify the case quite a bit.

4) Depends on the airflow in the case, but the position of mounting it is unlikely to make a difference. There should be no difference in performance from the riser/extension. Typically, they either work or don't, rather than dropping performance.

Yeah true. I'm just hoping someone here has had some experience with these things. Because if it worked for them, I'd be down to do it as well.

There are security issues with PCIE cable

PCIe I / O interface, 16x is = 164pin; rated power = 25 ~ 75 W (12V = 5.5A; 3.3V = 3.0 + 0.4A);

PCIe%20Power%20Rail-2_0.png
Unfortunately, such as USB data cable testing requirements, should be proposed by the pci-sig specifications, has not yet appeared!

So the product of the wire is not 164pin, never to buy! Otherwise, once the product has a problem, the user is difficult to argue with the manufacturer!

Because they must remove the power supply and signal matching the required wire, this will not only change the PCIe specifications, but also cause failure and disaster!

There is a technical information here
